Gucci‘s going green, folks.

Creative director Frida Giannini is doing Mother Nature a solid with the launch of Sustainable Soles, an eco-friendly footwear line that features two styles made from biodegradable plastic.

Set to hit stores in late June as part of the Pre-Fall 2012 collection, Sustainable Soles includes the Marola Green women’s style, described as a cutout ballerina flat emblazoned with the GG logo and available in shades likeĀ taupe, blush, and black.

Men, meanwhile, can slip on the California Green sneakers (in both low- and high-top versions). The shoe boasts bio-rubber soles, a tongue stamped with the green Gucci logo, and vegetable-tanned calfskin upper with bio strings.

Sustainable Soles marks just the latest environmentally friendly endeavor by the Italian label, which launched a sustainable eyewear collection last year. Has green ever looked so good?
